Neither did I Gary, so please accept my apology.
Let's remain a bunch of Mellotron nuts and move on.
It was a knee jerk reaction.
I did lighten up, I lost 70 lbs :-).
But lose the "I need it explained to me" shit I trained our techs too and retired at 39, musta done something right.

Gee sorry… I apologize Tony, I didn’t realize you had advanced degrees in computers and were “thick??”.

When you get your super advanced degree they will teach you how to read media files with IE 8…or maybe

someone else in this group can explain it to you…seems you are the only one who can’t make it work.

As far as NASA goes they also use Windows, Mac, and fly in space….what’s your point. I have used UNIX and

really have nothing against it. My apologies to the group…I did not intend to engage in a pissing contest.

Lighten up Tony J

Cheers

Oh gee my advanced degrees in computers are for naught then eh?

I've used Unix, Linux every version of Windows since 3.1, so what do I know?

I was just the senior tech with Sony/Ericsson because I'm thick.

And if Unix isn't the answer then why does NASA use it?

25 years in computers when a fast CPU was 8 Mhz means nothing then?

Can't figure out Windows?

No it’s not. It worked fine for me with IE8 & XP.

You have other problems and “migrating” to UNIX is not the answer if you can’t figure out Windows.

No problem Tony. I have owned a technical management company for about 15 years and we do project management for all kinds
of companies and the government. We deal with Windows, Mac, and UNIX. I shouldn't have allowed my self to sink into the Winows vs UNIX thing....it's about as productive (or unproductive) as the Windows vs Mac discussion. It's always a heated debate and nothing ever seems to be solved. At the end of the day if what you are using works for you then use it....they all have
their strong and weak points.....and you are right this is a tron forum.

I use several Kurzweils, an Emu Vintage Keys module, and occasionally a plugin or two as my trons. I don't have an actual Mellotron
(now there's an argument waiting to happen :)) but that was the sound I "had to have" the first time I noticed it back in the early 70s.
I was (and still am) a huge progressive rock fan and went to a lot of Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, etc. shows and the powerful sound of
the Mellotron was a big part of that music. One thing I remember from those days was when I played the Mellotron is that when I
got to the end of the keyboard I always wished there were "just a few" more keys. Between that and having 8 seconds before the tape ran out it really forced you to keep a lot of things in your mind when you played an arrangement.

BTW, How did you lose 70lbs? I have been trying to lose 30 and hit a wall at the last 10..........

Cheers,

Gary

Hi Gary,
Man I can relate to your post 100%, same period of time, bands etc and like you I heard it and had to have one.
So good ole #510, a fully restored 72 Tron I've owned since 1975 and I painted mine black like the rest of my gear.
Portion control was what it took to lose the weight.
I kept eating what I like, just more slowly and less of it.
It's that simple!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'll keep in touch if that's acceptable, it is to me.
Best,

Ohhhhh!

Sorry, you have to go over to the "I don't have a real Mellotron" group.

Or... I could sell you a nicely restored one and then you can joyously
claim ownership. Also, as a Mellotron owning member of this list you get to
make any outrageous you wish without fear of repercussion. And, if you
actually own a Mellotron, you get a special password that lets you learn the
amazing secrets that all real Mellotron owners know but aren't allowed to share
with non owners, and you get the Real Mellotron Owners monthly newsletter.

2009-08-15 by Gary Brumm

Yeah Tony, That's how I lost the first 20 pounds....after trying other things that worked the best for me too.
Well it would be cool to have a tron in my collection. I am currently expanding my recording equipment and
the economy has cut heavily into my music budget. I played a few trons back when I was playing in the 70s and they
were $500 used ~if~ you could find one. I wish I had picked one up then but the price has surpassed the point where
it would be practical for me. Hoverer, I picked up a new government contract that starts sometime next month
and I have been known to make very impulsive purchases :). A black one would be cool and match me rig better too.
Are you actively playing in a band? I am just doing some tracks for friends on their recordings and that is about it anymore.
If so do you take the tron on the road?

Well I am off to a concert with some friends.....outdoors in the California heat.....
By all means ...keep in touch.

Cheers,

Gary

Oh no!! I have been busted as a fraudulent Mellotron list non owner. Yes, please send me one right away.

Money is no object. Do you have one in black? Then will you show me the secret hand shake? J

Actually I have repaired several over the years…does that count for anything?

Please forgive me J

At the end of the day if what you are using works for you then use it….they all have their strong and weak points…..and you are right this is a tron forum. I use several Kurzweils, an Emu Vintage Keys module, and occasionally a plugin or two as my trons. I don’t have an actual Mellotron (now there’s an argument waiting to happen J) but that was the sound I “had to have” the first time I noticed it back in the early 70s. I was (and still am) a huge progressive rock fan and went to a lot of Genesis, Yes,
King Crimson, etc. shows and the powerful sound of the Mellotron was a big part of that music. One thing I remember from those days was when I played the Mellotron is that when I got to the end of the keyboard I always wished there were “just a few” more keys. Between that and having 8 seconds before the tape ran out it really forced you to keep a lot of things in your mind when you played an arrangement. BTW, How did you lose 70lbs? I have been trying to lose 30 and hit a wall at the last 10………. Cheers, Gary From: newmellotrongroup@ yahoogroups. com [mailto:newmellotro ngroup@yahoogrou ps.com] On Behalf Of tony1

When you get your super advanced degree they will teach you how to read media files with IE 8…or maybe someone else in this group can explain it to you…seems you are the only one who can’t make it work. As far as NASA goes they also use Windows, Mac, and fly in
space….what’s your point. I have used UNIX and really have nothing against it. My apologies to the group…I did not intend to engage in a pissing contest. Lighten up Tony JCheersFrom: newmellotrongroup@ yahoogroups. com [mailto:newmellotro ngroup@yahoogrou pscom] On Behalf Of tony1

It worked fine for me with IE8 & XP. You have other problems and “migrating” to UNIX is not the answer if you can’t figure out Windows. Can you send a message to the group explaining how you attached the photo?

Yeah, right Frank. You told me the same thing and after getting mine,
all I got was a password to a couple of lactation bondage porn sites.
Not that it's not appreciated, mind you.
