eBay Fraud Alert - Arp 2600

eBay Fraud Alert - Arp 2600

2004-01-25 by STEPHEN TELLER

Yeah I wonder what became of the winner of this 2600 from a few weeks
ago for $2300.00. This seller ,although with a different name each
listing, has had 3 or 4 listings simultaneously with a supposed Arp
serial number of 070. Not very smart. Has someone alerted E-bay?

He now has no less than 26 auctions online right now for this supposed unit #70. I
guess he might be a potential nominee for the Darwin Awards, so get those ballots
ready! :)

I alerted eBay when, after his auction was cancelled, he contacted me directly trying to
sell the unit. Since then, I have alerted eBay for each auction he put up (until today---
I'm not willing to file 26 complaints, which is possibly what he's counting on). Each
time I filed, eBay sent me a form response indicating that other people had already
flagged each auction as "possibly fraudulent".

I hope they throw the book at him.

This gets odder and odder... All the auctions save one have disappeared... But one
remains, at currently over $15,000! (Funny, I didn't know Serge made 2600s!)

Too bad eBay won't disclose the details of investigations; this probably would be quite
entertaining. (In another email, eBay did assure me they were taking care of him.)
