Moog on History Channel

Moog on History Channel

2004-09-13 by Bill Sautter

FYI... A program called "History's Lost & Found" aired a few days ago on
the history channel (I don't know if it's aired before or if/when it will
again). It included a segment on Bob Moog's very first synth. from 1964,
built over a 2-week period in late 1963 with Herb Deutsch. Both Bob & Herb
were interviewed. The original unit was bread-boarded, had the old
hand-pressed sticky-labels, and used a double-manual keyboard hacked from
an organ. The segment talked about Herb not being able to donate or sell
the original Moog unit over the years. Finally, the Ford Museum (as in
Motor Co.) in Deerborn, MI accepted it for their musical instrument section
in the late '90s.
