MG section malfunctioning; cause?

MG section malfunctioning; cause?

2010-01-23 by r_j_d_2.phila

hey folks, first of all thanks to all of you who helped me with my SRAM chip issue. i got a 5514, and the current draw is proper, it now holds the memory, no battery draining issues.

so i took this on the road, and the MG (LFO) section starting malfunctioning. issues:

-the RATE pot doesnt throw from roughly 0hz-10hz. it now goes from 0 to about 3 or 4hz midway and then back to 0hz at the end of the throw.

-the 3-way destination switch only works at VCF

-these malfunctions affect the presets. so any of the patches i had written that had VCO modulated by the MG are now rendered moot.

any ideas? i have had CMOS chips fail in other Korg instruments of this era; possibility? thanks alot for the help-rj

Hi,

First of all check that you have -5vc at IC13 pin 7 with the MG speed pot
fully counter clockwise. Fully clockwise you should have +5v at the same
point. Any deviation means you should be looking at the mux bus or, dare I
say it, the pot itself! Buzz back and let us know...

Cheers,
Andy
