Poly-61 Mainboard

Poly-61 Mainboard

2001-05-07 by Ian Harris

I picked up a Korg Poly-61 keyboard this weekend at a yard sale. Got it home and it was doing some funky stuff so I did some searching around and found that the mainboard battery seems it be problematic. So I opened it up and sure it enough it had made a good mess of things. The mainboard looks like it's pretty rough shape. Does anyone know where I can find a working mainboard someplace? the other boards look alright just the up button doesn't seem to work but i'm sure i can get that going pretty easily.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks

Ian,

Funny that you should ask. I just saw "Guts of KORG POLY61 Synthesizer"
on ebay (thats the exact item title). I would ask the seller how the board
looks like. There is also another non-working poly61 listed too, but it
might very well be the battery on that one. Now on the other hand, if it
was a Poly Six, I would know who to go to - he repaired mine (Old Crow).

I'd say... nowhere... unless you want to buy a working poly-61.. but
then you could just sent your broken one to me...

I'd just take a few days out with a hot iron and repair/replace all
the broken and messed up looking traces you can find... put the chips
in sockets and do it all up... it will take a while, but it should be
good.

-ben (let me know if you are afraid of this, and want to sell it)

heheh
