<<Just picked up a Prophet 2000 and have a few questions. Do they all run
hot? This thing is as hot as an ensoniq!>>
both my 2000 and 2002 run hot; the voltage regulators are bolted to the back
panel. the regs run slightly hotter than they ought when the local voltage is
240 because the nearest setting is 220 and this makes the secondary voltage
higher in the power supply. the regs have to throw the extra energy away. I'm
guessing you're in the uk... otherwise, maybe they all ran hot anyway. sounds
like it's working, and SCI stuff generally has a reputation for running hot.
(my p600 also gets hot and I've seen scorch marks under failed regs in
pro-1's)

problem?>>
no. it'll do this until you change the way the voices are allocated ("dynamic
allocation" on the matrix, I think, without looking). there are some user
instructions in the files section. good luck! it's a wonderful sounding
sampler; though we've been spoiled by bigger memories and digital effects,
the 2000's somehow feel more like instruments.
