Sequential circuits samplers

I am trying to load up a few drum sounds and need them mapped, only about 5 sounds 
and I've read the manual and have been trying this for weeks. I get to the point where you 
select the lowest note of the particular sound with the "parameter"  knob then I hit the 
highest key of the sound on my controller, then I hit execute and nothing happens.  I'm 
just really confused at this point, I should also mention I'm using the P2002 rackmount 
but I don't think that should afftect me being able to choose the high note?
