From my point of view, the diagnostic disk will only help you
in conjunction with the full service manual - the functions of
the diagnostic disc and the tests are described in detail there.
Omniflop should be able to copy the diagnostic disk, as it does
a physical copy of the disks.
From my understanding, the diagnostic disk software will overlap ROM
information, therefore copying using a Prophet 2000 should not work.
(Reading the service manual, this seems to be a valid implication)
The P2000 conventions about capacities is a bit odd.
The Prophets came in
256 KW = 384 KB
512 KW = 768 KB
1024 KW = 1536 KB
KW means KiloWord, one Word has 12Bits. KB is nowadays standard KiloByte, 8Bits.
On a 1 MW Prophet, you have two independent storage areas.
You need to manually switch between them (dot in the display).
No copy and paste between the banks or other access across the
magic boundary.
Therefore, you have to load both 'pages' seperately, one DSDD disk
per page.
@Matt: If you have DSDD floppies that are still 'functional',
your drive may be broken (replacements available at Winecountry).
My P2000 1MW has a HD drive installed. In order to put the HD drive
into 'DSDD compatibility mode', I need to cover the HD indicator hole.
Works fine. My disks may or may not work in DSDD drives, though,
based on the physical differences HD vs DSDD.
