Urgent Prophet 2002 help req'd.

2001-08-31 by RB

Hi all

I just bought a Prophet 2002 from QXL but it has no manual. I need to test
it within 24 hours as part of the escrow payment deal.

It powers up ok and there are some preset waveforms which play fine.

However, when I go to 'Recrd Sample' I just get an 'S' in the display and I
can't seem to get out of that without rebooting the machine.

If someone could tell me quickly how to take a sample, format a floppy and
save so I can check the machine I'd be HUGELY grateful.

Thanks in advance

Richard Brown

PS. Any other checks for common faults you could recommend?

I hope you get this message in time....

1. Select delete and turn the parameter knob until it says AL. Press
Execute.
2. Set the size, press execute. Select Rate.
3. Select Record Sample. The display should read +SP. Turn the parameter
knob until the + disappears.
4. Set your input level with the (duh!) input level knob. The lights along
the bottom and the side of the machine will light up. Don't let them go all
the way up or you will clip.
5. Press execute to record the sample.

I haven't sampled into the P2002 for years and this is from memory. I hope I
remembered correctly. :)

Perhaps there was a hint of prophetic intervention when the wind distorted
one of Coke's first sky written messages to unsuspecting Cuban's in
pre-revolutionary times. According to Pendergrast's book, instead of "Tome
Coca-Cola" ("Drink Coca-Cola"), the message across the sky read instead,
"Teme Coca Cola" ("Fear Coca Cola").
