make sure that you use a relatively small HD (i think 450 megs is the largest
it will support), and that it is preformatted for a _mac_.
you shouldn't have too many problems then.

you go to the disk menu, go up to 'floppy', then turn the wheel
to select a scsi device. pretty straightforward from there.

i think it uses scsi id 7 (like most macs?)
i haven't tried the syquest 105s, but i have
used the 200, 88s, and 44s with no issues.

incidentally, i don't have my p3000 anymore...
i still have a syquest 88 drive with several
88 meg carts and a whole bunch of 44s... anyone
want it? make an offer...

Prophet 3000

2007-10-11 by djnmonte

i have a Prophet 3000 Rev B with 4 megs of ram. i replaced the LCD screen with a blue
backlit screen which looks great. if anyone needs info on this mod i'd be happy to help out.

my pk3 has a couple of issues and i was wondering if anybody could help out.

the first problem is that as the unit plays through the voices, each voice seems to have a
slightly different filter setting. it's most noticable when i turn the resonance up so the filters
self oscillate. i can very clearly hear the pitch of the self oscillation changing as i step
through the voices. any ideas what might be causing this?

the other issue occurs when i play drum sounds with a sharp attack. the attack sounds
different each time the sound is triggered. it almost sounds like it's sometimes clipping the
circuit and sometimes it's not, though i'm quite sure the sound is not clipping at all.

i'm very familiar with the unit and have ruled out the possibilty of user settings for both
issues. i'm almost resigned to sending it to wine country but wanted to check here first.

thanks

nick

Hi Everyone, thanks for letting me join.

I'm looking for some Prophet 3000 stuff that used to be available for free on
the web, but the links are so old they are broken now.

If anyone has an image of the diagnostic disk, samples, or the service manual,
or anything else they would be happy to share, I would be very grateful.

Thanks
Martin

martin, I *think* I've got a hard copy of the manual somewhere. the schematics, that is. they were sent to me in error by an ebayist from whom I'd bought the corresponding p2000 sheets, & he didn't want them back. anyway, I'm in madrid for the next ten days & these docs are in london, but if I find them then, I'll let you know & we can arrange to get them to you.

Hello all,

I have a prophet-3000 with no sound disks, they were all destroyed in a fire (the firemen saved the p-3k though) Does anyone have some that they could copy for me, I would pay for the disks and your time !! thanks so much!

http://web.archive.org/web/20010303124221/http://jhunix.hcf.jhu.edu/~gutelius/prophet.html
unfortunatly, the diagnostic disc is not downloadable anymore.

Hi,
All the download links on that site are now dead. It looks as if there was a lot more interesting stuff there at one time, but that site is still useful.

I have also seen some dead links to a French site too that looked interesting when it was up.

I will keep looking. Thanks for your help.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
