New Prophet owner

New Prophet owner

2003-07-01 by Pat Swayne

My wife and I were at a local music store the other day when they were
having a "tent sale". There was this keyboard leaning up against a
table, so I asked the guy how much he wanted for it. He said $10, so I
got it. It's a Prophet 2000, and it appears to work, except that the
preset switch bounces. I haven't tried the disk drive yet. I have been
learning what I could about it off the internet, and opened it up to
find that it has the optional memory card (for 512k) in it. I may have
some questions in the future, but for now I'm having a good time
playing with it. $10 for a sampling synth ain't bad!

goood going! I got mine as a gift as well. You can go to our file section
and download the "Guide" we have that covers most of the operations. I am
pretty sure that even without discs, it has internal sounds to get you
started. You will find that the P2000 has an awsome analog section with
great squeling filters and envelopes as well as a very cool arpeggiator. It
sends and receives MIDI clock as well.

You can purchase sounds and manual at wincountry.com ( i think...see link
section of this grp)They actually have a good deal on analog sounds: 5 discs
for 20.00 . I might get 'em myself.

Wish there was a way we could share samples, but I don't know of a way,
unless you can create disc images.

Have Fun

You can't use disk images on the Prophet samplers.
The format is different at hardware level apparently.
I've experimented quite a bit with disk imagers and none work.

as soon as the floppy can fit into the computer, one can make an image.

There is a disc utility used for mirage samplers. I wonder if that will
work?
However if you can write on...GREAT!

So how do wincountrysequential get their patches on disc? I would have some
patches to share as well.

They save them from a Prophet 2000/2002!

AFAIK they are original SCI disks that they sell as I see they have sold
out of some.

Did anyone of you test Sample Wrench (http://www.dissidents.com/) with the
p2k? Maybe a way to save patches as MIDI files. I tried it once with my
p2002, but it did not work.
