Modify the ribbon cable to standard floppy drives
2003-08-09 by Torbjörn Frisk
Hi! New here and I se that it's many fellows here with broken floppy drives. After reading some of the archives here it seems as some ordinary standard PC floppy drives, as for instance some Sony and Teac models, works for P2000 if DS (Drive Select) swaps from DS1 to DS0. Instead of soldering and test different floppy drives (if they lack jumpers for swap DS channels) it can be easier to make a simple modify with the ribbon cable (from the mainboard to the floppy drive) to operate in DS0 mode instead of DS1: http://www.swtpc.com/mholley/35disk/Disk.htm I havn't tried it yet (get my P2000 yesterday), but it should work, don't you think that? /Toby www.soundofmusic.se
