Sequential circuits samplers

I've found that Steinberg Cubasis is not sensitive to the release 
information of the MIDI input from my Prophet 2000, but Cakewalk Pro 
is - has anyone else notice this? (or is it just my Prophet :))  It 
makes Cubasis useless for anything other than stepped MIDI input, but 
Cakewalk Pro works just fine.
