formatting floppies with OmniFlop

did anyone tried to format Prophet 2002 floppies with OmniFlop?

it claims it can "Read, write, and format Prophet 2002 (800kB)"

.. or even just reading the disks. i'd would like somehow to get all my
2000 and 440 samples on to my computer (i cant do it via midi,
unfortunately).

so is there any software that would read the disk image that the above
software creates?

cheers,
chris

it should read the files from floppy too...

you can use it to archive disk images to pc and then write back the
mentioned disk images (or OTHER Prophet disk images...) to floppies!

it should be the only way to handle prophet 2000/2002 disk images
with pc (useful for trading, archiving etc...)

yeah, but due to a house move, i havent got the space for a full studio
anymore so i've gone over to software and would like to use the sounds
on the pc. obviously, at worst case, i could just sample them direct
from the 2000 output, but would loose a bit of quality.. not overly
bothered about that though. but it would be nice if i could get them
directly over though.
cheers,
chris

I would not be worried about sound quality...
worst thing is you'll lose real CEM filters!

btw, could you try out if it works ok?

p.s.
for sample playback you should also consider Oberheim DPX-1 yourself...
it is just a 2 unit rack module and reads Prophet 2000/2002, Emulator
II, Ensoniq Mirage and Akai S-900 and it has those Oberheim lovely
analog filters!

well seems to work on some disks and not on others. but these are old
disks and have been sitting around for ages unused so its more than
likely them rather than the program.
I cant check if it writes ok (or indeed if it has read ok) as my 2000 is
in storage at the moment and there's no software that i can find that
will read the disk image.

yes, i'd thought about one of those before.. never got round to it. but
as i said, it's all software here now, not even a mixing desk

chris.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
