Sound Designer for Prophet 2000/2 Mac edition and sample dumping problems.

Sound Designer for Prophet 2000/2 Mac edition and sample dumping problems.

2008-10-29 by chrisbickley

Hi,
i own a bonafide copy of sound designer, but i dont have any manuals for it, does anyone
have access to the manual or have a pdf version or scans available, please. I have no idea
how to set the midi up between the mac and the prophet, i get a big red "d" locked out on
the prophets LED display when i attempt to dump a sample to it.

got it all working with a basic opcode midi translator, but im having a load of trouble with
the software because of no manual, the main area im having problems with is working out
how the key mapping works, its like the wierdest way of assigning a sample to a key ive
ever seen, and the key range, can anyone explain how this is supposed to work, because
im totally befuddled with it.

I seem to remember (pretty sure) there was a sample dump midi "mode" ( for some reason I'm thinking mode 4? but that could be wrong) you had to select on the prophet? could be spacing but maybe check the prophet manual for that

I have the Prophet 2002 manual but not for sound designer,
dont think there is a link for the sound designer manual on the net ?
the way the software assigns the keys is a bit wierd.
Maybe i should stick to assigning manually on the front panel of the prophet.

Re: [prophet2000] Re: Sound Designer for Prophet 2000/2 Mac edition and sample dumping problems.

as far as i know it just replaces the sample it moved the new sample to,,,
then its governed by the one to 12 patches on the prophet and remains
assigned to whatever the old sample had been key assigned to.? no ..mine
does

its not like by putting in a new sample is going to change the key
assignment of the prophet.
you know even if u erase a sample the key assignment might changes
prophets are funny
even the sample playback key might vary too
but sound designer is ignorant to the patches ,
it only does loop point and midi dump to the machine , it has nothing to
do
with the editing of user parameters for the 12 program banks....
