Sequential circuits samplers

Hello, I have a p2000 and in preset mode there are no sounds coming from the keyboard does anyone have any idea on how to begin to troubleshoot the possible problems with the synth? 
 Does the p2000 have an internal battery that may have gone bad?

There is no battery inside the p2000 so that could not be the problem.

I'd start with a simple MIDI check to see if the keyboard is working at all: 
does the p2000 keyboard spit out MIDI notes? 
then, does the p2000 respond to notes played on an external keyboard connected to the 
MIDI-input?
