You should check this months issue of Keyboard
magazine featuring a shootout of clonewheel organs including those you are
asking about. I demoed the Roland VK-8, VK-7, and Korg CX-3 and was most
impressed with the Korg, the Rolands sounded too thin, no balls. But
then after reading a review of the Nord Electro, I purchased one from
Musician's Friend and ; have found it sounds better than the Korg or
Roland organs with much better Leslie sim and also has excellent
Rhodes,Wurlitzer, and Clavinet pianos as well, plus has 73 keys vs. 61 and
weighs 22 lbs.

I currently own a Farfisa Compact DeLuxe and a Workstation WK6 from
GeneralMusic.I play the organ for "The Frantic Five"
i wanna get a hammond or hammond-like organ as well and thats where
i d like your help and recommendations.
I dont think i can afford or be dedicated to carry around an
original Hammond monster organ as B3 or an alike of it. So i have to
buy something that sounds like it but without the bulk and the
weight.
After a lil research i think i should choose something between
Hammond XK-2,Hammond XK-3,KORG CX3,Roland VK8.(i m also interested
in buying a Fender Contempo Organ or a Vox Continental by the
way :P)
Could you plz gimme a short list of pros and cons of each one of it
wether you ve played on it or just what you ve heard from
friends/musicians.If you could post some links/urls would be great!
As for what i want or have in mind, here it is:
-i want it portable
-fat,rich sound but i would apreciate it if i could reproduce sounds
like Vox organs or the cheesy farfsa 60's pop sounds
-i play (or i wanna play in the near future) 60s
garage, blues, soul&funk, rock, acid jazz in their vintage eras of
course.
-i dont wanna purchase another "hot" synthesizer but a vintage combo
organ so i dont care about other bank sounds like strings, pianos
(eeewwww gross!) etc nor for rythm or percussions so bother telling
me about them.Im a vintage enthusiast so bring it to me!
-nice price(i would buy a pre-used , no problem it it plays ok)
-try to describe and notify me of teh differences
concerning,sounds,effects,rotary,leslie,which one co-operates best
with leslie speakers or leslie-like imitations speaker
systems,feeling of the keys(heavy,hard,deep,shallow etc)
-if anyone sells his own mail me :P (organus@...)
