you've already made your purchase - based on another message -- but i have a cheap low-tech fix which i discovered accidently. i have several older synths with low-level lcd panels which either can't be adjust or are just plain dim (including my beloved k2000r). since i'm already losing my vision and haven't had the inclination to attempt repairing all of them, i've taken to keeping a cheap lcd flashlight (either a small one i can hold in my mouth or one of those fancier ones with the head-strap) which works surprisingly well for seeing the lcd's at the distances that i need to. i'm not trying to be a smart-a** here, it just works for me so i thought i'd pass it along.....
