Any idea how to fix Aftertouch on a Roland D-50?

2005-10-16 by Tom Remi Flygel

Hi,
I am borrowing a used D-50 from a store, it's a fabulous synth that mixes short PCM samples and loops with subtractive synthesis to make some seriously creamy or disturbing pads and basses (and leads too). Always wanted one..anyway, the Aftertouch is getting a bit old, you have to apply a ton of pressure to hear any effect. So is there any easy and SAFE way I can fix this alone? Or must it be sent in for repair? Is it hard to find the AT ribbon?
I don't know if there exists a service manual, I only found a User Manual, Quickstart manual and MIDI implementation guide. Thank god for the SysexD50 editor, opened up a whole world of soundbanks and patches to try out.
