Maybe a power supply problem?? sagging? pitch response out, and volume
problems at the same time suggests maybe something is up there to me. This
is quite obvious though... did he check the power rails when the weirdness
was hapenning?

my flatmate fixed a totally dead arp axxe a few weeks ago, he managed to
work out what was what in the axxe by using odyssey schematics from the net.
though you may not want to pay a tech to work that way, its a bit slow....
