RE: [vintagesynthrepair] Hammond A-100 (A-143) Manuals..Can they be removed from the front?

2008-11-25 by Mark Wallis

Yes, you can.

Firstly you have to unsolder all the wires from the tagstrip on the front of the generator, then you undo the preamp connections, then you do the
wires from the vibrato scanner to the keyboard, then you disconnect the coloured wires that run down to the pedals.
Take off the wooden music rack rail and tie it to the top rail of the cabinet.

Unbolt the manuals from underneath, stick something thin and strong down the sides of the manuals to protect the cabinet, grab a friend and carefully lift them
up and out across the front rail.

When they're out, do EVERYTHING you would want to do to the manuals. You don't want to have to do this too often..

Best wishes,

Nope 1

From the rear.

You need two people to do it.

(Some repair centers have a Jig so a single person can slide them out the rear.)

Mike

I want to clean/lube the bus bars. I saw a video on youtube of
"jolandagos" restoring his A-100. The tone generator was still in the
organ, and the manuals were sitting on another table. Can the manuals
be pulled out of the front of the organ? I wouldn't even mind removing
the strip on the front to do it, if it's possible.
