Hey Alex, I know what you're talking about, I have a old Nady os-2 tube overdrive that makes a nasty pop when I step on it, but it seems like not on every keyboard (at least so I've noticed). On my pianet t, it's pretty noticable - but when I use it on my RMI - it doesn't seem as noticable. I don't know - probably just me. Anyway, it's an interesting and warm vintage pedal - and I got it for a good price. Among other, I own a thomas organ "Crybaby" but while it's relatively quiet at my house, at the rehersal space it was unbearably noisey (white noise) when sweeping through the frequencies - and it's retired. I also used a maestro phaser (the one made by Norlin)- it's a sick twisted phaser - but also noisey-retired. Then For a long time I ran an old Ross Phaser and Distortion box (the purple one) which was really nice on organ sounds for a pseudo leslie effect and very liquidy and smooth, which I would still use except I went out and bought a Non-Vintage Alesis Wedge and run through that at gigs because it sounds nice and clean (digital) and has plenty of decent efx for the price (approx 100$ used). I don't worry too much if it's damaged because they're relatively available, . It's not a wah, but it's fun. I just got really anal about any non essential extra noise coming through my amp at rehersals and shows, so I now crossed the line to non analog efx, at least when playing out. One idea, I have no idea how this works, but the Electrix filter boxes -at least the filter queen which is the only one I have, has a 1/4" jack on the back which can be used with an expression pedal. The manual tells you settings to turn it into a pseudo wah/filter sweep. This is an analog unit, and you can throw the knobs on it too. Hmmm...maybe I've got a project this evening... -Ed ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 1 Date: Tue, 21 May 2002 22:26:09 -0000 From: "tinklemyivory" Subject: Effects Pedals So how come some pedals 'pop' when I turn them on, and some don't? Are there classic keyboard Wah's out there, or do we just use guitar ones? I understand that a keyboard wah would perhaps cut different frequencies (a broader range), but all [guitar] pedals are 'full range', as in they don't discrimate against the lowest frequencies, right? Is there a company out there that makes analog effects for keys, or are we stuck with guitar pedals? Just thought I'd open up a little discussion...(I'm sick of my current pedals for my Rhodes) -Alex ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Your use of Yahoo!
