I used the smaller one for a while- still got it somewhere. I recall being disappointed with the size of the hard drive, but then my band tended towards longer pieces. aren't they a bit old now, though? you might be better off spending your money on a multichannel interface for your computer, or a second-hand unit of more recent vintage, like one of the korgs. I've used two D1600s & that's a fine unit.
