Re: [vintagesynthrepair] arp quadra sound quits

2013-03-01 by Kevin Doheny

Does it produce any sound at all, and is it working okay at first, then stops after a few minutes?
There's a battery in there (regular... nothing exotic), and of course check that to see about leakage, but I think it only holds memory for the buttons.
If it does start out working and then fail, I'd watch the power supply outputs to see what happens during those couple of minutes.
Was the storage dry, or are there possibly problems caused by high humidity?
As with all vintage electronics, replacing electrolytic and tantalum capacitors are the first things to consider.

My beautiful Quadra came out of storage after 6 years and it's got problems. Everything worked fine when it went into storage, but now when I turn it on, it produces no sound after a few minutes. I am pretty good at mechanical repairs, but have never attempted electronic repairs. I would love to tackle this myself rather than take it to a shop. Any idea what I could look at first?

Thanks, all!
