Vintage Synth Repair

Hi everyone,
I've heard it's possible to use programs like cakewalk to change parameter settings on a SCI Six Trak with cc messages.  There's still a lot about midi that I don't know, but I was wondering than if it was possible to use one of those external midi controllers with the sliders to change filter values and such during live performance.  Could one of these be used with any synth that accepts these messages?  Any thoughts appreciated.

I have a Phillips Phillicordia organ that has one of the gas 
discharge tubes in the oscillator burnt out.

Does anyone know of a supply of these, or a possible substitute?
