two Multimoog problems

two Multimoog problems

2003-10-05 by William J. Spiropoulos

hey all

While the jury's out on my Farfisa question, I have a couple of
nagging problems with my Multimoog that I'll put forth a request
for assistance about:

1) The Attack control on the VCF often (not always, but much
more than it should) does not want to go faster than about 0.5 to
1 second attack time. In other words, you turn down the attack
pot full counterclockwise, and the VCF still wants to go
"wwwaaaaaa" instead of "wa" or even "a". A while back I replaced
the capacitor associated with the VCF envelope generator but
seeing as how it still does it off and on (currently on) that's
obviously not the answer.

2) The oscillator sync function doesn't seem to be working at all.
At the same time I was working on the capacitor problem above,
I remember accidentally dropping a screwdriver on the PCB
which blew out one of the CA3080 chips and put the synth out of
commission until I could replace it. Is it possible that something
got zapped on the sync board as well?

Any answers or suggestions for these two thingies would be
most appreciated.

thx

Billy S.
