Vintage Synth Repair

if i'm having trouble getting the keys on my Realistic by MOOG synth to 
trigger, does this sound like a contact-cleaning job?

another one- i read in KEYBOARD mag that there is some type of material 
inside the unit that decays into tar or something? anyone dealt with this issue? 
any help is VERY welcome!

open her up and check the contacts .... i have seen the "TAR" you are 
talking about in amny of those units!

I spent a chunk of the summer rebuilding the keyboard
on my minimoog. There were flanges under each of the
keys which had hardened and then cracked, resulting in
an uneven and unplayable keyboard. Most of the notes
would trigger, but then stick because the plastic
material acted "like tar". 
The new flanges solved the problem.
