RMI electra-piano repair
2001-06-16 by Brian Andrew Marek
Hey all, I got my RMI electra-piano today. I've already managed to fix up some issues with organ mode and sustain, and I got one non-functioning key to work. However, there still remains 3 non-functioning keys. I've fiddled about with some stuff in there but haven't figured out the problems quite yet. I know that it's not the key contacts - they are definitely creating a circuit, as they will produce the percussive sound when pressed with the "accent" tab on - they just aren't producing the instrument tone. Well, actually, one NEVER produces the tone, another produces the tone much quieter than any other key, and the third produces an even quieter tone than that, but only once in a great while. So basically I'm wondering if anybody has any leads on what the most common problem in this situation is? I don't think it's the oscillator coils, at least not in the case of the two that sort of produce a tone.
