.Mini-Moog Pots

.Mini-Moog Pots

2001-06-25 by ROBERT ROTH

Hi, I have a 1974 Mini-moog that I purchased new.In that time the back has
never been off.Are the pots of the military type? The pots have grown
scratchy and erratic, can I clean them or is replacement neccesary? Thanks!

They're sealed. Buy some new ones.
(I don't recommend drilling them.)

This link below is for the 5K pots which are used for VCO #2 and VCO #3

Thanks for the link to the VCO pots. Are the pots/switches used to select
waveform still available? Is there a trick to getting the case seperated on
the Mini?I seem to remember there are clips of some sort that hold it
together.Thanks!

Re: [vintagesynthrepair] .Mini-Moog Pots

The waveform and range switches are CTS series 212 rotary switches.
(see: http://www.ctscorp.com/electro/212.pdf )

However, I have lots of trouble getting small quantities and they're expensive.

If your waveform switches are bad, the best you can do is clean them
or replace them.
(yes, you can fiddle with their contacts, but I'm speaking of the
correct way :)

However, if you have warbly range selectors, I've posted a mod that
tends to work quite well:

Not sure what you mean on case separating.
There are screws on the top, bottom and both sides of the rear enclosure.
Two screws at the modulation block and (usually) eight screws on the bottom.
The keyboard itself removes with four screws (don't lose the spacers :).

Hope that helps.

Kevin
