LFO Resonating Acoustically?

I was repairing a Yamaha CS-10 recently, and I noticed I could hear the LFO inside the circuit, without the synthesizer plugged into an amp. It was a faint ticking hum, similar to what you can hear sometimes inside the transformer. But it wasn't 60Hz, it was whatever frequency the LFO rate was set, and would change whenever I turned the knob. What would cause this to become acoustic? Just curious, -Mike
