Emulator II problem

Emulator II problem

2004-08-19 by v_nurminen

Here are the symptoms:

- I have a sound library of more than 100 disks and my Emu boots OK
with all of them. However when I try to play a sound the system fails
(doesn't respond). This happens with most of the disks. Chancing the
preset works OK.

- There are a few disks that boot so that I can play the sounds but
when I try to for example make a sample the system fails. Emu also
gives false free memory indication, 22 sec for example.

- The problem appears always the same way with same disks, not randomly.

I've already ordered new E-II disks and they didn't solve the problem,
so disks should be OK.

Could it be a damaged memory IC? Does Emulator load sounds (files)
always to the same part of (physical) memory? Any onboard diagnostics?
Schematics available?
