Arp Solus thump (cont.)

Arp Solus thump (cont.)

2005-03-24 by Stephen Nichols

On the Solus, the lack of an independent volume control makes it tough to
isolate the effect on ADSR and/or filter. No 60Hz hum...seems to happen
regardless of envelope settings as a thump when key jwire makes contact with
bus bar and when it lets off (but not if a second key is depressed while the
first remains down when the ADSR is switched to trigger "SINGLE.") Other
issues of note: when ADSR is inverted for filter control, it cycles through
the parameters properly but when complete and the key is let up, the note
continues to hang. Similarly when the ADSR is used to control the Pulse
Width, I occasionally get drones as the MOD sliders are raised on each VCO.
The MOD sliders almost seem to be working as volume controls for the drone.
Alternately, the drone will occasionally sync to some "mystery" LFO in a
slow and regular note on/note off cycle that appears independent of actual
LFO slider setting on the synth (as evidenced by normal LFO function on FM
and Vibrato parameters). Hopefully this is clear...perhaps someone with
more experience than myself will recognize these symptoms as pointing to the
same cause. Or maybe they'll be able to at least point me to the next step
in troubleshooting. Thanks for the help -- Stephen
