Yamaha CS-5 schematics

Yamaha CS-5 schematics

2005-07-12 by Chris Strellis

Hi,

A plea for help\information.

Well it looks like the transformer has gone on my newly acquired CS-5
and judging by the repairs not for the first time either!

The part no. is GA81411 which doesn't ring any bells with Google.

What I'm thinking is replacing the whole PSU section with a bought in
switch mode killing several birds with one stone - ageing Jap caps
any one?. Now I need to know the output voltages that a CS-5 likes.

I have a CS-10 and corresponding schematics but this needs +15V, 0, -
15V and +10V. The CS-5 seems to need just +/-15V. Can anyone
confirm this? Better still anyone have schematics for a CS-5, I can
trade other schemos for it if necessary.

Best regards

Chris

Have a look at the original manual, one of the last pages have a full specs sheet with all the in/out voltages..maybe that helps. I have a CS-5 myself and the manual is actual quite good. All those cute drawings :)
If the direct link doesn't work, click to Electronic music instruments, then change to Synthesizers (combo instr.)
and you'll find every yamaha manual ever released in PDF formats. Can't find any tech manual anywhere.
Try a google search. Most synth manuals are scanned and available for free, you shouldn't have to trade or pay money for a paper manual these days.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for trying to help. I already have this manual but someone
else has now helped me with the schematics. It's just +/-15V in the
CS-5 unlike my CS-10 with is +15V, +10V and -15V.

I'll replace the transformer and hope that this is all it is.

Best regards

Chris

Are the schematics a PDF document? If so, I'd like to have it too. Always good to have around with these ancient synths. I've changed 3 pots on it already.
