Dead key on Korg i5s

Hello, One of my keys on my Korg i5s doesn't work anymore. Well, sometimes it works but usually no sound is produced when pressed. I've opened my keyboard and checked the mechanics of my keyboard and it 'seems' ok. The springs are all ok and nothing is really broken I think it is just a 'bad' contact. The key presses against a rubber mat, which is 'glued' to a circuit board. Can I safely remove this rubber mat to clean whatever is beneath it? Any help appreciated, Luc
