General Music Real Piano Expander LCD display replacement

General Music Real Piano Expander LCD display replacement

2006-09-23 by narfman96

Hi,
Does anyone know the pinout for the GEM Real Piano Expander's
display. It has a 14 pin connector and it looks like the backlite is
included in the connection. This is a strange setup with a 3" wide
ribbon connecting the 2 boards together. Since this exact display is
not going to be available it probably would be best to sub it. I have
pictures of it I can send if necessary.

Thanks in advance, Fran

If it's just the backlight I believe that it alone can be replaced. There's
been numerous people talk about a place that has them available I just can't
remember the name.

Hi Brian,
  Thanks for the reply.
No it's not the backlight. This is the infamous 2 pixel display. 2
dark spots is all that show up on this one. And then only when
there's info in those locations...
Telesis seems to be the most popular for replacing the inverter
type backlights. There was a link to the UK but they're gone.
