Hammond Aurora Century 222122K

2007-01-02 by Steve

Firstly, hello and a Happy New Year from a new member !!

Sorry to kick off with a problem on my first posting here, but I am
really needing some assistance.

Amongst other things, I've just bought an old Hammond 222122K Aurora
Century.

Generally, it is in first class condition and plays fine, but there is
a problem with the bass pedals volume.

The swell pedal has to be flat out to hear anything from the bass
section. The 8'and 16' pedal drawbars are working and sounding. The
bass guitar tab is working ok and so is the pedal sustain.

Has anyone got any idea please as to what the problem might be ?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

Hi, Steve:

You might direct your question to the Yahoo Hammond_Zone group: many
very knowledgeable Hammond enthusiasts there and they'll probably be
able to steer you in the right direction.

Hiya David.

Thanks for your reply.

I did in fact post to the Hammond Zone on the 28th December. I know
it was probably not a good time to do it, but there have been 145
other postings since mine with not a single response to my query.

I was just hoping that someone might be able to point me in the right
direction to sort this pedal volume problem out.

I'd be very grateful of any suggestions.

Regards.

Try replacing the light bulb in the swell pedal.

It's most likely NOT the build in the swell pedal as this would affect the
entire organ if it was out, and not just the pedals. It's most likely either
bad edge board connectors or a bad preamp device (transistor or opamp ic).
Don't have a schematic in front of me. It could also be on the mixer board.
Do you have a service manual?

Hello Keith.

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately I don't have a service manual for it but I'll check out
the edge connectors first, as you suggested, and let you know how I
get on.

Cheers for now.
