Oberheim Matrix 1000 issues

2007-02-04 by Quazimodo

Hi Guys,

Hope someone here can help.

I have a Matrix 1000. It started missing notes - so I got a few
CEM3396 chips and replaced a couple of them. The missing notes
returned but now it is behaving strangely on different patches. Most
patches sound right and I'm getting all 6 voices but now and then on
certain patches it behaves very wierdly. For example on a patch that
should be "Monophonic" and FAT I am getting POLYphonic and weedy
sounds - and then playing the six notes in succession within that
weedy patch (105) they jump octaves on certain ones.

Anyone any ideas - I don't think it's the CEM chips now.
What else could/should I be looking at replacing?

Cheers in advance.
Tom

Try to replace the CEM IC's sockets, they are really poor quality sockets.

Thanks for your reply Fabio.

The IC sockets..? Really..?
Do you have previous experince of these sockets actually being the fault?

Cheers.

Hi:
I did have a similar problem some time ago. All patches was mono, not
unison, simply can't play more than 1 note. I cure this resetting the
CPU, you can do that without loose your patches (But do a back up just
in case...)
Power it up pressing Enter.
Good Look

Hi Sebo,

Yes I did the reset thing. It still behaves the same way, that's why I
think there is an actual fault somehere.

Cheers.

Yes,
I have had many many problems in the matrix 1000 in the past because of the sockets.
