Moog source Tuning procedure

2008-02-19 by mrjdevries

Hey all, I'm having difficulty with tuning this guy to CV.

It seems that it's DAC is out as well as it's synth.. ie, it's in tune
with itself, but not External CV. (Mostly scale)

The service manual (I got from OldSchool) is not complete and is
missing important parts of the tuning procedure..

Anyone out there have a complete service manual or the tuning procedure
for a Moog source?

Much regards

Mike

What do you mean by "tuning to CV"?

I've never had 2 CV devices that are "in tune" with each other. I have
to tune (and calibrate) my Midi->CV interface according to which synth
I use it with (SH101 and Moog Prodigy), and when I tried to control
the Moog from the SH101 (some years back), the Moog needed quite
drastic tuning to work.

a good place to start is with a voltmeter & either a guitar tuner or a
frequency counter.
remember in any cv/gate hook-up, keep the contact surfaces of the
plugs clean, use 1/4" wherever possible (& not 1/8"), & use quality
cable, avoiding excessive lengths.

just my 2c.

duncan.

Exactly.. you can get that to work.. just takes time.
I'm not too worried about tuning 'offset' something that can be fixed with the tuning knob on your synth, i'm more bugged by the scaleing.
I've managed to locate a complete "Moog Source" manual.. so i should have it in ship shape soon.
Regards
Mike
