Hi everyone.  I need some help diagnosing why my Roland AXIS-1 keytar 
controllers won't power up.  I've got a power supply, and bought a 5-
pin XLR to connect it with the controller, but the controller doesn't 
light up.  Any suggestions?

Hello, Michael -

A friend who subscribes to the group put me onto your plight.  So now 
I'm a subscriber, too.  (I'm glad he put me onto the group.)

I strongly suspect the wiring of the XLR cable you purchased is 
something other than how Roland built the original AXIS-1 cable.

I can't find my Roland repair manual for the AXIS-1, but I took a DMM 
and measured my own cable I built for my AXIS-1 and supply (which 
works, by the way).  The cable XLR male to XLR female pins must be 
wired up straight through on all pins (1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5).  If 
you take the XLR shells off and inspect the wiring, it should be easy 
to tell if this is what you have.
