Hello,

this is a shot completely in the dark, of course, but when my Delta
failed on me, it was due to a broken fader in the ADSR/synth-section.
It had been pushed through its base, deforming and loosing contact
with the resistive track. I simply bent it back into shape, and
things worked fine again.

no actually i think your right on the money. i was looking at the
block diagrams and found that the last section in the flowchart is the
string section. so i basically figured i need to work my way
backwards considering that i can hear a slight noise coming from the
the synth output, hinting it might still work. ill open it up and
check if there are any loose connections. its previous owner simply
stated that it well taken car of and that it just went out on day.
thanks MU.

p.s. the delta service manual sucks. no IC or part numbers on the
board screen shots. which makes it alittle hard to distinguish which
parts go without opening it up.

Today I had 2 Deltas come in for service, first on has no synth output, second has synth
output for around 20 minutes then it cuts out. I will post the fault condition when I fix them
later in the week.

Re: Korg Delta Strings Only Issue

I think I have repaired one of the 3 deltas that have come into the workshop with the
synth section dropping out. I will have to let it run for a few hours to check, and then I will
try the same thing on one of the other ones to confirm. If indeed I have found the fault it
will be one of the most difficult to find faults that I have ever come across. If it works I will
post details of the fix.

Steve.

Moog Source mods/sync

2008-06-22 by Philip

Hi, decided to dig my Moog Source out and get it fixed..wow..forgotten how good it sounds!

Had a read up on it on the net and discovered there were two versions..mine is the early one, but the later one had dinsync and a few other jacks and functions added mainly to be able to sync the arpeggiator to drum machines. I can see from the schems it requires the 3.2 software and some internal mods obviously..has anyone any more info on this? The notes aren't clear about the new jack board for instance. Anyone got the 3.2 Rom image I can have? etc

Thanks, Philip.

I may have a similar issue with my Korg Trident Mk II. Hopefully your post will help me out. When you stated synth section dropping out, are you saying it shuts down totally and the string section is fine? With mine the Brass and strings are good and the Synth has issues.

Yes, the synth section sometimes works for a few minutes after turn-on, or sometimes doesn't, and then the level drops to almost nothing, and sometimes pops and spits. I doubt that the Trident would be the same issue, I think it is a very different architecture to the Delta..

I'm in exactly the same boat as you..

I was considering about getting the "arcsound" modification, which gives it good midi specs + an arpeggiator that clocks to midi.

Hi Mike, I've heard that this is not a great kit...sure it gives you midi, but it causes pitch problems when editing live, a serious trade off for me.

Philip.

Really! thanks for pointing that out.. thats a pretty fundamental flaw.

I've gotten a bit fustrated with my Source.. I love it's sound, but have no real way of sequencing it. i do just love plying it tho.
I have loads of Midi-CV converters, but the source has refused to be tuned to 1v/oct scaling on the input.
