Oberheim Matrix 1000 freezing

Hi! I'm about to buy an Oberheim Matrix 1000 through an auction. I couldn't see it working and the current owner states it's working perfectly except that it needs to warm up before operation. When cold it freezes. I'm a little bit concerned about this being a major problem but all info I could found about Matrix is that the unit is very reliable and there are no project leaks. Has anyone experienced this problem? For Matrix owners (anybody there?): is it so reliable? Thanks! Arnaldo.
