How hot is your iron?

How hot is your iron?

2002-03-01 by Tom Moravansky

Question - for those of you with temperature-controlled soldering and
desoldering stations, what temperature do you normally have it set to
when working on your standard synth circuit boards? I'm at 300 C,
but sometimes I have to boost it to unsolder something from a large
ground plane.

Anyone else?

I typically use 310C to 350C. For stuff that needs a lot of heat, I use
a different iron (TC201 pencil with "#7" flat tip). As long as the flux
isn't boiling, I am in the right temperature range. ;)
