Rhodes question

2002-05-10 by tinklemyivory

Hey Guys-

I'm new to the group here, but am happy to be reading these
discussions...

My Rhodes was just stolen, and have been disappointed with Ebay
prices. I did find a Mark I suitcase with the orig. amp and speaker
for a decent price. I gig out, though, so I was wondering if anyone
knows how easily the speaker/amp are pulled off and removable legs (I
still have the ones from my stolen stage piano) are put on.

Also, anyone know of good sources for Rhodes in the DC area?

Thanks!

Alex

The keyboard and the speaker cabinet are actually two separate pieces.
The Rhodes just sits on top. I think the problem you might have is
getting your old sustain pedal to work with the suitcase model. The
sustain pedal for the suitcase model is built into the speaker cabinet
so you would have to somehow rig your stage model pedal to work with
your suitcase model. Also, the suitcase model doesn't have any mounts
for your legs to screw into, so you'll need to buy 4 leg mounts and
attach them to the bottom. http://www.speakeasyvintagemusic.com/ sells
new custom made parts for Rhodes electric pianos including leg mounts,
although they are a little pricey. You could also check
http://www.caesound.com/ They have some used parts for many vintage
keyboards including the Fender Rhodes.
