Help needed sourcing parts for a Moog Source (haha)

Help needed sourcing parts for a Moog Source (haha)

2011-04-25 by Mark

Hi, I'm currently overhauling a Moog Source. I've done quite a decent job because I have a good Moog Source to look at for reference points, but I'm at a brick wall. I need two things: the transformer and the wiring harness. I've currently recapped the power board and replaced many of the missing opamps. These boards came from an old employee of Moog, they are virtually new old stock. I live just 45 minutes from Buffalo, near the old Moog plant, so there are many employees floating around here!

I'm picking your collective minds for this! If anyone knows which transformer I can get for this synth, or a decent replacement, point me in the right direction, please!

Also, is it worth it to make my own harness? If so, which tools do I need?

Thanks for your help!

mark, the transformer's nothing special. so long as it fits in the case & has the right choice of windings for your locality, any 15-0-15 rated at 60VA should do. I don't have my source schemos in front of me, but I recall there being two seperate 5v rails.... but you can look at the good synth for guidance, anyway.
not sure which harness you're referring to, but I'm pleased to hear that someone wants to do this "properly" & not just use tie-wraps! you should still be able to find lacing cord from wherever you buy your wire & other components. see if one of these former moog guys remembers how to lace a cable bundle together... it's become a lost art!

duncan.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
