Farfisa Combo Repair

2001-02-01 by lectroshock@yahoo.com

Greetings everyone,
I am new to the vintagesynthrepair group.
Recently I purchased a Farfisa Compact Combo. Currently, the organ is
in transit to me. Age has caught up with it, and it does need some
attention. The previous owner describes the problems being a few keys
out of tune, a bit of static when played, and what sounds like a 60
cycle hum. I am far from a electronics wizard, and don't want to go
tinkering with something I don't know about. Any help? What would I be
looking to pay to have the organ fixed?

Sounds like you were the high bidder in a recent Ebay aution I was
watching :)

You might find some resources here:

http://www.synthmuseum.com/resources.html

I'm in a similar situation - except I want to try the repair myself - I
have a RMI Lark Combo Organ (not as spiffy as the Farfisa, but still
neat). Anyone have a clue where I might be able to get a service manual
or schematic?

RMI is Rocky Mount Industries and was a part of Allen organ co. They
stiil provide tech support. I've gotten parts and schematics for a RMI
electronic piano. Go to 'mitatechs.com' and look for their address.

Thanks Lynn & Scott for the helpful info! Scott you
may find that Kurt Penna with fuzzorama Labs in S.F.
Ca. may be able to help you. If not with the actual
manual
and all, but maybe with copies. Check out the
fuzzorama.com site for the e-mail address. I hear he's
one of the best techs for the old stuff. Ray

Thanks for the info Lynn,

What model is the RMI that you're parting out? The one I need to fix is
a Lark Combo Organ - the smaller of the two models with 37 keys.

Re: [vintagesynthrepair] Farfisa Combo Repair

Scott,
It is an Allen Md# 368-X electronic piano. I,m not sure what may be
common between the two.
Allen was god about using parts fron the organ line they were building at
the time and they still provide most of them.
