Volume pot on Ensoniq MR rack

Volume pot on Ensoniq MR rack

2012-11-15 by intrepidpete

Got an Ensoniq MR Rack, but the Value rotary encoder and the Volume pot are bad. I found the details on the rotary encoder, so I can order a few of those. But I cannot find any details on the potentiometer. Anyone? If someone has a service manual and can post any details on the pot, I will order a few from Mouser, get out the old soldering pen, and will post details on the repair.

The pot appears to have 7 pins (unlike most at Mouser that seem to have 3 pins), connected to a small circut board with the headphone jack on it. Inside the pot is a tiny 1/2" circut board (broken into pieces now) with traces going around in circles. The dial has little metal connectors (all mangled now) that spin around those traces and somehow send the signal as to the volume setting. Also, is it possible to just hard-wire it to 50 percent, just to get some audio coming out? That way I could just control the volume via midi.
