Hey folks. Looks like I have a dead floppy drive on the Emax SE HD. It's the early battleship, grey rather than black. Any sources that you'd recommend? Thanks. Jim

I agree. They are the place for emu support. The only other place in this league is Bruce Forat for sp-12/1200s. Nice people, I remember talking with them over sp-12 buttons after 9/11 and it was a sad conversation about families the staffer knew personally. Emu placed their parts with them. That’s where I’d buy a drive from as you’d be sure it was right. They moved to Florida where the work is from Jersey. Lorne in Canada

The drives from the ESI series if samplers will work in the Emax, these are the same drives that eprelectronics sells, if you want an original type replacement, try http://www.route66studios.com/ they are a bit pricy though. Dave --- In vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com, "z z" wrote:

Hey guys, Many years back, I played around with the Penfold modular book. I built a bunch of circuits, and it worked ok. Not great, but it was a fun project. I've recently dug it out of storage, and would like to do a bit of troubleshooting and repair. I'm wondering if anyone here has poked at this diy design, and if so, maybe I can do some brain picking? I apologize if this is wrong forum for homebuilt stuff, but I just tried to join the synthesizerscom group, and was denied. Possibly because I own a commercial studio? Not sure. Thanks, Jim

I think I may have a copy of that around somewhere, I will have to try and dig it out, if I remember correctly there was also one on Midi projects as well. Many thanks John Rose (www.astrodevelopments.com)

Hey all, My Minimoog resto is coming along quite well. The new bushings are in, the bushing mounts are adjusted, and it's playing pretty nicely. The next step is to repair a dead light. The little red one above the power switch. I've opened the back panel, and access to the rear of the light is not a problem. However, I'm curious about the mounting of the bulb, and the exact procedure for disassembly. Anyone here have some experience with this job? Any recommendations for a part source? (I hate the thought of paying $30 for shipping one tiny bulb......but if I have to.....) Thanks, Jim

Hey! I'm getting ready to do a battery swap on my rev3 P5. I haven't opened it up yet, but is the replacement simply a standard 2032 3V? Thanks, Jim

As I recall, it is a 3volt Lithium with tabs. About the size of 2/3 of a C. LIke a CR14250SE

It's a BR-2/3A with PCB pins. I usually get them through Digikey or Mouser. The pins don't go through the PCB, but are bent and soldered to the component side, so it doesn't matter if you get the 2 pin or 3 pin version. Here are the part numbers: Digikey: P226-ND or P270-ND Mouser: 658-BR2-3AE2SP Cheers, Alex --- In vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com, Jim Blair wrote:

Jim, check Queale Electronics, they should have them. Dave --- In vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com, Jim Blair wrote:

Does anybody have a readable ARP Prosoloist service manual where it is possible to read the resistor values? I need the specific values in the board A schematics, top left corner where the D-A converter is, and ARP has one of their custom resistor chips in position Z14, labelled G2701-011. The scanned version of the schematics I have list the first as 30.91k, the next is 15.03k, but then is it getting harder to read. All I need is a list of the resistor values in this chip. Thanks. I'm not sure about 100% of them, but here we go: 1: 30.91k 2: 15.03k 3: 7.047k 4: 3.190k or 3.180k or 3.130k (or possibly even other value) 5: 24.39k 6: 24.39k 7: 56.09k 8: 116.7k 9: 252.0k 15: 6.xxxk (unreadable) 16: 1.866k The values between pins 10,11 and 12 are also very hard to read.

Maybe
10-12: 4.108
9.957
15: 6.800
16: 1.844
