molex kk connectors

This information came up on a pinball list and I emailed Molex to verify it. Their 'kk' series connectors are rated for 25 insertions. That's right -- 25. These connectors are used in lots of synth gear (and other stuff). For a picture to jog your memory, look here (need Acrobat) http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?handler=fra_pdfset&pdffile=441 (I'd post a link to the Molex page, but it's a huge URL with all kinds of embedded crap) If you're doing gear repair on something that's seen some service in the past or if you're plugging and unplugging connectors a lot to help you debug a problem, keep this info in mind. You might want to either check to make sure the connectors aren't losing their spring and going dead, or just put on new ones. For normal use, 25 is a big number (ie - assembled and connected at the factory, unplugged once or twice during the gear's lifetime), but for some connectors that see heavy use it might be an issue. The number is the same for all variants too (regular, trifurcon, box shroud). Just a bit of FYI. -- _______________________________________________________________________ Tom Moravansky tom@...
