ensoniq eps 16 scsi

2002-08-09 by ed hallborg

Hi folks,
I tried posting this on the ensoniq page, but no luck so far. I'm hoping there may be a few ensoniq techs in this group...
I just purchased a scsi connector for my rackmount eps 16+. I followed all the directions - it's pretty simple with only 2 pin connectors to attach- but it seems my eps 16 is not recognizing that the scsi port has been installed. There is no aknowledgement of the new scsi port when I boot up (via floppy) as there is supposed to be. The eps acts as if nothing has been done to it all. It seems to me that the most logical solution would be a bad connection somewhere.
I asked the company I bought it from - Sound Logic -and was told that ensoniq used some type of soder flux which left a film that could sometimes cause problems. So far I have tried spraying out the pin connectors with contact cleaner and of course repeatedly physically reinstall it. They have offered to replace it, but I'm hoping it's something simple as the scsi connector was supposedly tested before it was sent to me.
Does anyone have any experience with these or a possible solution before I return it - or end up taking my eps to a local tech?
Thanks,
Ed
