Alesis QS6.1 disassembly tips

Hello all,
I have an alesis QS6.1 that needs some contacts cleaned. I tried to take it apart using the instructions in the service manual. The leads attached to the slider board are so short I was unable to raise the top/front panel far enough to unplug them, and thought I'd best ask for some direction/advice before I went any further. Can anyone shed some light on the disassembly process that will help me to gain access to the contact boards and contact strips on the underside of the keybed?
